The Picture Pursuit event in Disney Dreamlight Valley turns the Royal Phone into a scavenger-hunting tool. Each participating villager asks you to find hidden character motifs and photograph them before returning for a reward.
Some hunts take place around the Valley, while others require access to a specific Realm or story location.
All Picture Pursuit Villagers and Locations
Seven villagers offer Picture Pursuit quests during the event. Only characters you have already unlocked can give you their photo hunt.
Here is where each quest takes place:
- Merlin: Dream Castle
- Mickey Mouse: Mickey’s House and Goofy’s House
- Moana: Moana Realm
- Buzz Lightyear: Toy Story Realm
- Alice: Alice in Wonderland Realm
- Peter Pan: Skull Rock
- Cinderella: Vitalys Mine
Each quest asks you to photograph four hidden motifs based on a Disney or Pixar character.
How the Picture Pursuit Event Works
One featured villager quest becomes available each day. Talk to that character to start the scavenger hunt, then follow the clue to the correct location.
The basic process is the same for every quest:
- Talk to the featured villager.
- Travel to the location named in the quest.
- Find the four hidden motifs.
- Photograph each motif with the Royal Phone.
- Return to the villager for your reward.
Make sure the full motif is visible in the camera frame. If a picture does not count, move closer and retake it from a straighter angle.
How to Reach the Picture Pursuit Locations
Dream Castle
The Dream Castle is at the top of the Plaza. Merlin’s entire hunt takes place inside the castle.
The Realm doors for Moana, Toy Story, and Alice in Wonderland are also inside the Dream Castle. Use the matching door after unlocking the Realm to return there for its Picture Pursuit quest.
Mickey’s and Goofy’s Houses
Mickey and Goofy live in houses placed around your Valley. Their homes may not be in their original biomes if you moved them through Furniture Mode.
Open the map and select the appropriate character icon if you need help finding either house.
Moana Realm
Enter the Dream Castle and use the door marked for the Moana Realm. The quest’s Kakamora Motifs are hidden throughout the island area.
You must have Moana living in your Valley before she can offer her Picture Pursuit quest.
Toy Story Realm
The Toy Story Realm is accessed through its door inside the Dream Castle. It leads to Bonnie’s bedroom, where Buzz Lightyear’s Hamm Motifs are hidden.
Buzz must already be unlocked and living in the Valley.
Alice in Wonderland Realm
Use the Alice in Wonderland door inside the Dream Castle to return to Wonderland. Alice’s hunt asks you to photograph Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum Motifs around the Realm.
You must finish enough of the Wonderland storyline to bring Alice to your Valley first.
Skull Rock
Skull Rock is on the small island off Dazzle Beach. Walk across the shallow sandbar to reach the skull-shaped cave.
Peter Pan’s Picture Pursuit takes place inside Skull Rock, so you need to complete the related story progression and unlock him before the quest can appear.
Vitalys Mine
The Vitalys Mine is in the Sunlit Plateau. Follow the river toward the northern edge of the biome to find the mine entrance built into the cliff.
Cinderella’s Gus Motifs are hidden inside the mine. Cinderella must already be unlocked before she can offer the event quest.
Picture Pursuit Event Rewards
Each completed hunt awards the motif featured in that quest. Completing five Picture Pursuit quests also unlocks the Pure Cinema Photo Frame for the Royal Phone.
There are seven quests in total, so you do not need every participating villager to earn the photo frame. However, completing all seven is required if you want the full collection of event motifs.
The Picture Pursuit event runs from July 15 through July 28, 2026. Check the Valley each day for the next featured villager, especially if some of your unlocked characters have not offered their quests yet.
