The Rescue Mission quest is the fourth installment of Oogie Boogie’s Season of Scares storyline in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Released on Oct. 14, 2026, it picks up after The Ghost in the Portrait and brings another unexpected problem to the Valley.
Oogie Boogie hasn’t finished playing games with everyone just yet. Fortunately, you have a few familiar faces ready to help with his latest round of Halloween trouble.
Here’s how to complete Rescue Mission, including the required items, their locations, and the steps needed to finish the quest.
How to Start Rescue Mission

Before starting Rescue Mission, you must complete the first three Oogie Boogie quests, including The Ghost in the Portrait.
Once you’ve finished Week 3 and unlocked Zero, check your mailbox for a new letter from Oogie Boogie.
Read the letter to begin the quest, then enter Scrooge McDuck’s Store and use the Strange Mirror to reach the Mirror Lair.
Find Oogie Boogie and speak with him to receive your first objective.
Where to Find All Five Odd Decorations

Oogie Boogie asks you to investigate five strange decorations scattered throughout the Mirror Lair.
All five are on the first floor, so there’s no need to search the upstairs area.
| Decoration | Location |
|---|---|
| Green Polar Bear | On the couch near the bottom of the left staircase |
| Hanging Plant | On the wall behind the left staircase |
| Wall Lantern | On the pillar near the clothing display on the left side |
| Potion Bottles | On the counter in front of the vault door |
| Green Podium | Near the bottom of the right staircase, beside the window display |
Approach and interact with each decoration to investigate it. You don’t need to move the furniture or collect the objects.
Once you’ve examined all five, return to Oogie Boogie and confront him about the strange decorations.
How to Get Zero’s Help

After speaking with Oogie Boogie, leave the Mirror Lair and find Merlin.
He’ll suggest using Zero to investigate Oogie Boogie’s plans.
Open your Wardrobe, select Companions, and equip Zero from the Notable Companions section.
Return to the Mirror Lair and speak with Oogie Boogie again. While you’re keeping him distracted, Zero will investigate downstairs.
Head to the first floor and look for the paper Zero dropped. Pick it up to obtain Oogie Boogie’s Diary, which reveals the next part of the quest.
How to Craft Extra-Strength Bug Spray

You’ll need to craft two Extra-Strength Bug Sprays to protect Merlin and Scrooge McDuck.
First, collect the following materials:
| Ingredient | Amount | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
| Lava Core | 1 | Fish from the lava pit in the Mirror Lair |
| Skeleton Fish | 1 | Fish from the same lava pit |
| Dandelion | 1 | Speak with Goofy |
| Dream Shards | 10 | Collect from digging sparkling spots or clearing Night Thorns |
The lava pit is in the center of the Mirror Lair’s first floor. Equip your Royal Fishing Rod and cast into the fishing ripples to catch the Lava Core and Skeleton Fish.
These are quest-specific catches, so you don’t need to search the regular Valley biomes.
Next, return to the Valley and speak with Goofy. Ask him for the special flower to receive a Dandelion.
Once you’ve collected everything, visit a crafting station and find Extra-Strength Bug Spray under the Oogie Boogie quest recipes.
Craft the recipe once to receive both required sprays.
How to Complete Rescue Mission

With both sprays in your inventory, find Merlin and Scrooge McDuck in the Valley.
Give one Extra-Strength Bug Spray to Merlin and the other to Scrooge McDuck.
Once they’re protected, return to Oogie Boogie’s Mirror Lair and confront him to complete the quest.
You’ll receive Decorative Oogie Boogie Bats as your reward.
Rescue Mission also prepares you for the fifth weekly quest, Let the Games Begin, which became available on Oct. 21, 2026.
