Picture Pursuit: Merlin is one of the limited-time scavenger hunts available during Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Picture Pursuit event. Merlin sends you into a familiar location, but the small symbols can easily blend into pillars, walls, and doorways.
You must photograph four separate targets before returning to Merlin and collecting the quest reward.
How to Complete Picture Pursuit: Merlin
To complete Picture Pursuit: Merlin, enter the Dream Castle and photograph all four Walrus Motifs with your Royal Phone. The motifs are found near the entrance, beside Mickey’s secret door, above the Stardust Port doorway, and on a pillar near the castle’s top floor.
After photographing all four, return to Merlin to complete the quest and receive the Walrus Motif reward.
The full quest steps are:
- Talk to Merlin when Picture Pursuit: Merlin is available.
- Enter the Dream Castle in the Plaza.
- Photograph four Walrus Motifs.
- Return to Merlin.
Make sure the Walrus symbol is clearly visible inside the photo frame. You do not need to save or share the picture after taking it.
First Walrus Motif Location
Enter the Dream Castle and immediately look to your left.
The first Walrus Motif is painted on a pillar near the castle entrance. It is located on the first floor, so you can photograph it before climbing any stairs.
Equip your Royal Phone, face the pillar, and move close enough for the full symbol to appear in the shot.
Second Walrus Motif Location
The second Walrus Motif is also on the first floor, near Mickey’s secret door.
From the Dream Castle entrance, turn right and walk through the opening between the two potted hedges. Look for the hidden door decorated with colorful gems arranged in a flower pattern.
The Walrus Motif is painted on the wall to the right of the door. You do not need to open Mickey’s secret room to photograph it.
Third Walrus Motif Location
The third Walrus Motif is above the doorway leading to Stardust Port.
From the entrance, use the stairs on the left and climb past the floor containing the Beauty and the Beast, Monsters, Inc., and Mulan Realm doors. Continue up the next staircase.
When you reach the third floor, look toward the Stardust Port doorway and tilt the camera upward. The Walrus symbol is positioned directly above the entrance.
This one is easy to miss because it is higher than the other motifs. Stand back from the doorway if you cannot fit the full symbol into the camera frame.
Fourth Walrus Motif Location
The final Walrus Motif is near the top of the Dream Castle at the top.
Return toward the main entrance and follow the right-side staircases upward. Continue climbing until you reach the upper floor with Realm doors for characters including Alice, Aladdin, Hercules, Inside Out, and Lady and the Tramp.
After reaching the top of the staircase, look down and to your right. The fourth Walrus Motif is painted on a nearby pillar.
Take one final photo, then check the quest tracker to confirm that all four pictures registered.
Picture Pursuit: Merlin Reward
Return to Merlin after photographing all four Walrus Motifs. Speaking to him completes Picture Pursuit: Merlin and unlocks the Walrus Motif for use in Touch of Magic designs.
Completing Merlin’s hunt also counts toward the larger Picture Pursuit event duty. Finishing five Picture Pursuit quests unlocks the Pure Cinema Photo Frame.
The Picture Pursuit event runs from July 15 through July 28, 2026. One featured Villager quest becomes available each day, so continue checking the Valley for additional photo scavenger hunts while the event is active.
