When does Grand Theft Auto 6 come out is once again one of the biggest questions in gaming, especially now that Rockstar has opened the next phase of its launch rollout. After years of rumors, trailers, delays, and internet detective work, GTA 6 finally feels much closer than it did a year ago.
Rockstar has shared new details for Grand Theft Auto VI, including platform plans, preorder timing, preload details, and launch bonuses. That gives players a clearer idea of when they can return to Vice City and how they should prepare before release.
What is the GTA 6 Release Date?
Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out on November 19, 2026.
Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 will launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is not currently listed for PC at launch.
This date replaces the earlier May 26, 2026 window. Rockstar delayed the game to November, giving the studio more time before one of the biggest releases in gaming history.
What Platforms Will GTA 6 Launch On?
GTA 6 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, or PC at launch. That means the first release is focused on current Xbox and PlayStation hardware.
PC players still have to wait for a separate announcement. Rockstar has released major games on PC after console launch before, but the company has not confirmed a GTA 6 PC date yet. You can read more in our GTA 6 PC release guide.
When Did GTA 6 Preorders Start?
GTA 6 preorders started on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time.
Players can preorder Grand Theft Auto VI through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and select retailers. Rockstar also confirmed a standard edition and an Ultimate Edition.
The standard edition costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Players who preorder, or buy before November 20, also get the Vintage Vice City Pack.
When Can You Preload GTA 6?
GTA 6 preloading begins on November 12, 2026.
That preload date gives players one week to download the game before launch. It also matters because GTA 6 will likely take up a lot of storage, even though Rockstar has not confirmed the final file size yet.
Players worried about storage can check our GTA 6 file size guide for the latest on download rumors and confirmed storage details.
Will GTA 6 Have Early Access?
Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 early access.
That matters because scam sites are already using fake “early access” and “VIP download” offers to target players. GTA 6 has official preorders, but Rockstar has not announced a playable early access period before launch.
Stick with Rockstar, PlayStation, Xbox, and trusted retailers. If a random site claims it can get you into GTA 6 early for crypto, close the tab and wash your hands.
