Midwest Games has announced the Tombwater release date: November 12, 2025. Showcased during the Best Indie Games Showcase 2025, this eerie 2D soulslike action RPG from Moth Atlas drops players into a cursed frontier town plagued by madness, decay… and something far darker.
Tombwater Release Date
Developed by Max Mraz (Ocean’s Heart, Yarntown) and Jake Wagner, Tombwater puts you in the boots of a lone gunslinger. Your goal is clear: find your missing friend, Sheriff Elliott Flintwood, and uncover what’s rotting this once-thriving town from the inside out.
The town is now a labyrinth of horrors, filled with eldritch corruption and demonic foes. Every encounter is a step closer to the truth, and to the madness.
Soulslike Combat, Western Setting
Players can expect around 20 hours of gameplay. That includes intense boss battles, a fully interconnected map, and deep combat systems inspired by classic soulslikes.
Combat is flexible and strategic. You’ll wield melee weapons, firearms, spells, and crafted tonics from the in-game apothecary system. Additionally, a built-in quest log and world map help keep your journey on track through Tombwater’s sprawling, grim world.
A Fresh Take on Familiar Inspirations
Drawing influence from The Legend of Zelda and evoking the grit of Red Dead Redemption, Tombwater blends nostalgic design with Lovecraftian horror. Its top-down perspective gives players a unique view of the chaos while delivering the punishing challenge fans of the genre expect.
