NBA 2K27 comes out worldwide on Friday, September 4, 2026.
On that date, 2K will release the Standard Edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam.
However, NBA 2K27 will skip PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Nintendo Switch. As a result, players will need a current-generation console, a Nintendo Switch 2, or a compatible PC to play this year’s game.
When Does NBA 2K27 Early Access Start?
NBA 2K27 early access starts on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 9 a.m. PT. The regional start times are:
- 10 a.m. MT
- 11 a.m. CT
- 12 p.m. ET
The Deluxe and Ultra Editions include up to seven days of early access. Therefore, players who buy either edition can start before the September 4 worldwide release.
Meanwhile, Standard Edition owners must wait until launch day. Preordering the Standard Edition does not provide early access.

What Platforms Will NBA 2K27 Launch on?
2K plans to launch NBA 2K27 on the following platforms:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC through Steam
- Nintendo Switch 2
The Standard Edition will launch on all four platforms. However, 2K currently lists the Deluxe and Ultra Editions only for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Because of that limitation, Nintendo Switch 2 players cannot purchase an announced early-access edition. They will need to wait for the Standard Edition launch on September 4 unless 2K adds another option later.
Why Does Steam List NBA 2K27 for September 3?
Some players may see September 3 on the NBA 2K27 Steam store page instead of September 4. Steam often adjusts release listings to match a player’s region and time zone.
Still, 2K identifies September 4, 2026 as the official worldwide release date. Players should check the countdown on their chosen platform closer to launch for the exact local unlock time.
Deluxe and Ultra Edition owners can begin playing NBA 2K27 on August 28. Everyone else can take the court on September 4.
