Is GTA 6 cross platform can mean two different things. Some players want to know which systems can run the game. Others want to know whether PlayStation and Xbox users can play together.
Rockstar has confirmed the launch platforms, but multiplayer remains a different story. The current GTA 6 rollout focuses on Jason and Lucia’s single-player campaign, leaving crossplay and progression questions unanswered.
Is GTA 6 Cross Platform?
GTA 6 will launch on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but Rockstar has not confirmed cross-platform multiplayer.
That means GTA 6 is technically a multiplatform release. However, Rockstar has not announced crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox.
The distinction matters because releasing on multiple consoles does not guarantee that players on those systems can share a multiplayer session.
Does GTA 6 Have Crossplay?
Rockstar has not confirmed GTA 6 crossplay.
In fact, Rockstar currently describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience. The PlayStation Store also lists offline play and one player, while Xbox lists the game with single-player capabilities.
Until Rockstar announces an online component, there is no confirmed multiplayer mode that could support crossplay.
That could change later. However, players should not assume PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users will be able to play together based only on the shared release date.
Can PS5 and Xbox Players Play GTA 6 Together?
Not based on anything Rockstar has announced so far.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players will both receive GTA 6 on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not said those console versions will connect through cross-platform multiplayer.
The launch version may focus entirely on the story campaign. If Rockstar announces a new online mode later, it will need to explain whether that mode supports console crossplay.
Will GTA 6 Support Cross-Progression?
Rockstar has not confirmed cross-progression for GTA 6.
Cross-progression would allow players to move saves, characters, or online progress between platforms. No such system currently appears in Rockstar’s GTA 6 announcements.
The existing GTA Online system offers limited profile migration, but it does not allow free movement between every platform. Rockstar says current profiles cannot migrate between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S or from console families to PC.
That does not prove GTA 6 will work the same way. It only shows that players should wait for official details instead of assuming a universal Rockstar account will carry everything.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?
Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 PC version.
The confirmed launch platforms remain PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s official support page only lists those consoles for preorder.
That means PC cannot be part of GTA 6 crossplay at launch. A PC version could arrive later, but Rockstar has not confirmed its date or multiplayer compatibility.
Our GTA 6 PC release guide covers what Rockstar has announced and how its previous releases handled PC.
Is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No PS4 or Xbox One versions have been announced.
PlayStation specifically says GTA 6 is not playable on PS4. Rockstar and Xbox only list PS5 and Xbox Series X|S among the confirmed console platforms.
Xbox Series S owners are included because Rockstar lists Xbox Series X|S together. However, Rockstar has not fully detailed the Series S resolution, frame rate, or technical compromises.
Will Rockstar Add GTA 6 Crossplay Later?
Rockstar could add crossplay if it launches a GTA 6 online mode, but the company has not announced those plans.
The safest answer is that GTA 6 launches across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as a single-player game. Crossplay and cross-progression remain unconfirmed.
Players should wait for Rockstar to reveal its multiplayer plans before making platform decisions based on playing with friends.
