Knotroot in Lego Fortnite is one of the first cave resources you will need after basic wood and granite. It starts showing up once you push beyond surface gathering, and it is easy to miss if you do not know what the cave roots look like. You will also want more than one piece. Several early recipes use Knotroot directly, while others use it after you process it into rods.
Where to Find Knotroot in Lego Fortnite
You can find Knotroot inside Grasslands Caves. Look for cave entrances around large rock formations in the Grasslands biome, then check the walls, ceilings, and raised paths once you are inside.
Knotroot looks like pale, twisted roots growing from the cave surface. Some pieces sit low enough to chop from the ground. However, others grow higher along walls or overhead paths.
If a root is just out of reach, press Shift while jumping to use the high jump. You can also climb some of the tree branches and root paths inside caves. This helps with Knotroot now, and it will also help when you start gathering other cave resources like Marble later.

What You Need to Get Knotroot
You need an axe to harvest Knotroot. A Wooden Axe works in the current version, so you can start farming it early. Stronger axes still help because they break the roots faster.

Before you enter a cave, bring food, a weapon, and a light source. Grasslands Caves are early areas, but enemies can still interrupt your farming if you wander in unprepared.
Also, mark the cave on your map before going inside. That makes it much easier to return later when you need more Knotroot, Marble, or other cave materials.
How to Make a Wooden Axe in Lego Fortnite
If you do not have an axe yet, craft a Wooden Axe at a Crafting Bench using five pieces of wood. This is the first axe you need for basic wood gathering and early cave resources.
Open the Crafting Bench, select the Wooden Axe, and choose the available parts your world gives you. The handle choice does not change the important part for this guide. As long as the finished item is a Wooden Axe, you can use it to chop Knotroot.
What Knotroot is Used For
Knotroot works as a crafting ingredient in several early recipes. You can also process it at the Lumber Mill to make Knotroot Rods, which you will need for other tools and progression items.
