Capcom Spotlight: Highlights from the Summer Showcase

Capcom’s latest showcase brought fresh looks at Monster Hunter Stories 3, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Onimusha, and Resident Evil.

Capcom Spotlight gave fans a closer look at several major updates across the publisher’s 2026 lineup, including new Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection content, more details on Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a fresh Onimusha: Way of the Sword boss reveal, and new Resident Evil 30th anniversary events.

The showcase did not waste much time on filler. Capcom moved quickly through DLC, free updates, expansion details, gameplay footage, and anniversary announcements, making this one of its more focused presentations of the summer.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Adds New Rudy DLC and Royal Monsters

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection producer Ryozo Tsujimoto opened the show with Additional Side Story: Rudy, a new DLC chapter focused on the Royal Felyne and his family history.

The side story puts Rudy in a strange situation that brings him face-to-face with Navirou, the legendary Felyne from Monster Hunter Stories. The DLC also features Nergigante, giving players another major Elder Dragon threat to deal with outside the main story.

Additional Side Story: Rudy is available now for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam for $9.99. Players who own the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe Edition already have access to the DLC.

Capcom also released a free update alongside the DLC. The update adds Royal Monsters, a harder endgame challenge for players with completed save files. After clearing the Final Battle on Hard, players can unlock Royal Monster versions of most creatures in the game, including Invasive Monsters and Calamitous Elder Dragons.

That gives endgame players a solid reason to jump back in instead of letting the save file collect digital dust.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Gets New Story and Gameplay Details

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen director Kento Kinoshita appeared during the Spotlight to break down the expansion’s new region, progression loop, and upcoming quality-of-life changes.

The expansion takes players to Norgan, a long-abandoned northern region tied to a new story involving the Fallen Dragon and a mysterious pursuer named Eir. Capcom also showed more of the Relic Expedition Cycle, where players explore dangerous areas, recover relics, appraise them, and turn them into stronger weapons and skills.

Dark Arisen will also add 12 challenge dungeons, new weapons, new skills, extra hairstyle options, and more tattoo choices for the Arisen and main Pawn.

Capcom also confirmed another Dragon’s Dogma 2 update for late August. That update will improve performance across platforms, add more save slots, adjust Dragonsplague, and increase weapon skill slots from four to six.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches October 9, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The full package will cost $49.99, while the expansion will also be sold separately for $29.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Players who pre-order will receive the Norgan Fashion Set – Northern Attire. Anyone who pre-orders the full Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen package on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Steam will also get immediate access to the base game before the expansion launches.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Shows Off Dohatsu-ten

Onimusha: Way of the Sword brought one of the show’s strongest gameplay moments with a new look at Dohatsu-ten, a fast and vicious Genma boss.

The new footage shows Dohatsu-ten clashing with Miyamoto Musashi in a brutal duel. The enemy fights with speed, aggression, and a bloodthirsty sword that becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on.

Director Satoru Nihei presented the new footage during the showcase, giving fans another look at the tone Capcom is chasing with this return of Onimusha. The game is leaning hard into dark fantasy swordplay, and Dohatsu-ten looks like the kind of boss that will punish sloppy timing fast.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches this September for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.

Pre-orders are available now and include the Sealed Curse sword skin and Lion Dog charm. Capcom also released a demo for PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Plans Continue

Capcom also used the Spotlight to continue its Resident Evil 30th anniversary rollout.

The World of Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Exhibit will run at Shibuya Beam in Tokyo from October 30 through December 24. The exhibit will cover 30 years of Resident Evil history with immersive displays based on the series.

The Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Concerts – Symphony of Legacy will also continue with a world tour beginning this August. The concert series features music from across Resident Evil’s history, performed live by symphony orchestras.

These updates follow the reveal of Resident Evil Veronica and the continued success of Resident Evil Requiem, keeping 2026 busy for survival horror fans.

Capcom’s 2026 Lineup Keeps Getting Busier

Capcom Spotlight was not packed with surprise reveals, but it did give players a clearer look at what is coming next. Monster Hunter Stories 3 players have new DLC and endgame content now, Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans finally have a deeper look at Dark Arisen, Onimusha has a playable demo, and Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary is still rolling.

The biggest takeaway is simple: Capcom has a lot lined up across RPGs, action games, and horror. Some of it is available now, while the rest gives players several major dates to watch through the fall.
