If you’ve been in a firefight, heard someone yell “GOOP,” and had zero clue what they meant, you’re not alone. Arc Raiders has already developed its own slang, and GOOP is one of those callouts that spreads fast through streams, clips, and voice chat. In this guide, we’ll break down what GOOP means in Arc Raiders, when players use it, and why you keep hearing it in PvP-heavy raids.
What Does GOOP Mean in Arc Raiders?
GOOP means Gear On Other Players, and it’s Arc Raiders’ slang for loot, specifically the gear you grab off other players after you win a fight.
Where Did GOOP Come From?
As for where it came from, the community doesn’t have one universally agreed origin story. You’ll see players say the acronym “Gear On Other Players” has been floating around in other survival shooters for years, with some pointing to Gingy from Escape from Tarkov as the term’s original creator. What’s much clearer is how it got traction in Arc Raiders: stream culture. Many players credit TheBurntPeanut with popularizing “GOOP” in Arc Raiders through streams and clips, even if he didn’t invent the word.
If you’re writing or talking about it for your squad, keep it simple. GOOP equals loot from other players. If you want to be extra clear, say “player GOOP” for gear taken from Raiders, and “map loot” for stuff you scavenge. That small distinction prevents confusion when teammates are calling targets and bags simultaneously.
