ARC Raiders does not make the appear offline process as clean as it should be. Since the game uses platform friends, Embark IDs, crossplay, and social integrations, hiding your status depends on whether you are playing on Steam, PS5, or Xbox.
How to Appear Offline on ARC Raiders
To appear offline on ARC Raiders, set your platform status to invisible or appear offline before launching the game. On Steam, use Invisible from your Friends List. On PS5, set your PlayStation online status to Appear Offline. On Xbox, change your online presence to Appear offline.
That should hide your platform activity from most friends. However, ARC Raiders also uses its own Social tab and Embark ID friend system, so this may not fully hide you from every in-game friend in every situation.
If you are trying to play solo without invites, also check your party settings. ARC Raiders supports open parties, which can let Embark and platform friends join more easily. If you want a quiet run, keep your party closed before heading Topside.
Nothing says “peaceful solo run” like dodging robots and social obligations at the same time.
How to Appear Offline on Steam
If you are playing ARC Raiders on Steam, set your Steam status before launching the game.
- Open the Steam client.
- Open your Friends List.
- Click the arrow near your Steam name.
- Select Invisible.
Invisible is usually the better choice than fully going offline because Steam still lets you use online features while your friends see you as offline. This is useful for ARC Raiders since the game requires an online connection.
If friends still see you inside ARC Raiders, check whether they added you through Embark ID instead of Steam. Platform status and in-game social status are not always the same thing.
How to Appear Offline on PS5
On PS5, you can set your PlayStation status from your profile.
- Go to your profile from the PS5 home screen.
- Select Online Status.
- Choose Appear Offline.
You can also change your online status through the PS5 control center by selecting your profile and opening Online Status.
PlayStation notes that even if you appear offline, other players may still invite you to voice chat or online games. So yes, “offline” still sometimes means “offline, but with receipts.”
How to Appear Offline on Xbox
On Xbox, you can set your Xbox status from your profile.
- Open your profile or Xbox Social options
- Change your presence to Appear offline.
This should hide your Xbox activity from friends who are checking your Xbox profile or activity status. If you are using crossplay friends through ARC Raiders, you should still check your in-game Social tab and party settings after launching.
Can You Appear Offline in the ARC Raiders Social Menu?
ARC Raiders does not currently have a clearly labeled universal Appear Offline toggle that works across Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Discord, and Embark ID at the same time.
That is the annoying part. The game’s Social tab can pull from different friend systems, and Embark has patched multiple social-status issues since launch. That includes fixes for friends appearing offline with more than one linked platform and Discord friends showing the wrong status after switching between Invisible and Online.
Because of that, the safest setup is:
- Set your platform status to invisible or appear offline.
- Close your ARC Raiders party.
- Avoid open party settings.
- Set Discord to Invisible if your account is linked.
- Remove or block in-game friends if someone keeps joining or inviting you.
It is not elegant, but it works better than hoping the Social tab reads your mind.
Can You Hide From Specific Friends in ARC Raiders?
ARC Raiders does not currently offer a simple “appear offline to this one friend” option. If you only want to avoid certain people, your best options are to decline invites, remove them from your in-game friends list, or adjust your platform privacy settings.
For most players, Steam Invisible, PS5 Appear Offline, or Xbox Appear offline will be enough. Just remember that crossplay and Embark ID can make visibility messier than a normal single-platform friends list.
If Embark adds a dedicated in-game appear offline setting later, that should become the best option. For now, platform status plus closed party settings is the cleanest way to play ARC Raiders without broadcasting that you are online.
