EA Sports has officially revealed NHL 27 and opened pre-orders ahead of its worldwide launch. Players will have more than one opportunity to get on the ice, depending on the edition they purchase or whether they subscribe to EA Play.
The new installment is limited to current-generation consoles and introduces a larger presentation overhaul alongside Connected Franchise and team-specific systems.
What is the NHL 27 Release Date?
The NHL 27 release date is September 11, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The September 11 date applies to the Standard Edition and the general worldwide release. EA has not announced versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, or PC.
NHL 27 follows the series’ usual early-season launch window, arriving shortly before the start of the new NHL regular season.
When Does NHL 27 Early Access Start?

Players who pre-order the NHL 27 Deluxe Edition can begin playing on September 4, 2026, seven days before the Standard Edition launches.
EA’s legal information lists the Deluxe Edition download as becoming available at 9:00 AM PT on September 4. That converts to 10:00 AM Mountain, 12:00 PM Eastern, and 5:00 PM BST.
The Deluxe Edition also includes 4,600 NHL Points, Hockey Ultimate Team packs, World of Chel extras, and additional pre-order rewards.
Is There an EA Play Trial?

EA Play members can access a 10-hour NHL 27 trial beginning September 4. An EA Play membership is also included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The trial is separate from unlimited Deluxe Edition early access. Once an EA Play member uses the allotted 10 hours, they must wait for release or purchase an eligible edition to continue.
Progress made during the trial should carry into the full game when played with the same EA and platform accounts.
What Platforms Will NHL 27 Be On?

NHL 27 is confirmed for:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
EA has not announced a PC release or versions for older PlayStation and Xbox hardware.
Crossplay will connect PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players in supported online modes. NHL 27 expands those capabilities by allowing players to compete against and team up with users on the other console platform in Hockey Ultimate Team and World of Chel.
What is New in NHL 27?

NHL 27 introduces Connected Franchise, which supports online leagues with up to 32 human-controlled teams. It also adds unique Team Playbooks powered by NHL EDGE data, rebuilt arena atmospheres, and a new broadcast package.
John Buccigross and Darren Pang form the new commentary team. San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini appears on the Standard and Deluxe Edition covers.
Players can begin with the Deluxe Edition or EA Play trial on September 4, while the worldwide NHL 27 release follows on September 11.
