If you’re planning to jump into Wizard101 on Switch, the biggest question is simple: can you bring your progress with you, or play with friends on other platforms? This Wizard101 Nintendo Switch cross-progression guide breaks down what actually works right now, based on KingsIsle’s console FAQ and the current console rollout details.
Does Wizard101 Have Cross Play on Switch?
Yes, but only across consoles.
KingsIsle says all console players can play together, regardless of which console they’re on. In other words, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox share the same console server pool and support console-to-console crossplay.
You can also disable crossplay from your console settings in-game. If you turn it off, you’ll only match with players on your specific console platform.
Can Console Players Cross Play with PC?
No. Wizard101 does not support crossplay between console and PC.
That means a Switch player cannot group up with a friend on Steam or the PC launcher, even if you’re both playing Wizard101.
Does Wizard101 Support Cross Progression?
Not in the way most people mean it.
KingsIsle states cross progression is currently unavailable, and PC accounts remain separate from console accounts.
Here’s what that means in practice:
- You cannot move a PC character to Switch (or any console).
- You cannot use PC purchases on console accounts.
- Your Switch progress will not carry over to PC.
Can You Use One Console Account Across Multiple Devices?
Sometimes, but only within the same console family.
KingsIsle explains that if you create a Wizard101 account on Xbox, you can use that same account on another supported Xbox console as long as you use the same Xbox account login.
However, you cannot take an account created on one console brand and use it on another. For example, an account made on PlayStation will not work on Switch, and an account made on Switch will not work on Xbox.
How to Avoid Account Headaches on Switch
If you want to play on Nintendo Switch, make your account on the Switch version of the game. KingsIsle specifically warns that accounts created on Wizard101.com work only on PC, not on console.
If you already have a long-time PC wizard, the best move is to treat Switch as a fresh start. You can still play with console friends through crossplay, but your PC progress stays separate.

Wizard101 on Switch supports cross play with other consoles, but it does not offer full cross-progression across platforms, and it does not connect to PC servers.
