Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 228 is next up, and Chapter 227 ended with Liones slipping closer to disaster. Cath’s “years” trick turned into something much worse, the hostages changed the entire fight, and the final pages set up a major turning point heading into the next chapter. Below is the Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 228 release timeline, where to read it officially, current spoiler status, and a spoiler recap of Chapter 227, so you are caught up.
Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 227 Recap
Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 227 picks up with the immediate aftermath of Ban getting aged up. Cath openly admits he manipulated time, and Ban, even while breaking down physically, pieces together how Cath’s Chaos is pulling it off. His read is that the “instant regeneration” we have seen is basically time being rewound, which would also explain how armor and other gear keep getting restored when they should not be able to.
Cath then realizes something is interfering with his attempt to age Ban all the way to death, and he starts hunting for the source. That is when he senses Merlin, calls her out directly, and confirms she is present in some form. Merlin makes it clear this is not her original body and needles Cath with the same key problem: he still cannot reach the real Arthur. Cath’s answer is pure menace, he devours Merlin’s vessel so he can “remember” her magic and use it to track Arthur down later.
From there, the chapter turns into hostage horror. Cath warns the Seven Deadly Sins to stop, then reveals he has seized the humans they evacuated, while the monsters in the city surge back into the fight. As the pressure spikes, Nasiens gets badly injured, and Cath forces a cruel choice: keep fighting and watch hostages die, or surrender. King and Diane end up dropping their weapons, and Meliodas is left furious but boxed in by the situation.
Cath immediately exploits the surrender. The fighting gets uglier, allies get hurt, and Meliodas is ultimately impaled and cut down while Cath grandstands like he has surpassed the legends and become a “true god.” The city’s morale collapses fast as onlookers start openly wondering if anyone can beat this monster.
The closing sequence pivots to Isolde racing to the castle to warn Elizabeth. Isolde begs the Queen to escape and even talks like she is ready to throw her life away in retaliation, but Elizabeth shuts that down. She reassures Isolde about her future with Tristan and declares she will protect everyone in Liones, including the people and the Seven Deadly Sins, even if it costs her life. The chapter teases Chapter 228 titled “Perfect Time,” with color pages.

Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 228 is set up to answer the biggest question left by Chapter 227: now that Cath has hostages and the Sins are forced into restraint, what can Elizabeth actually do to flip the board? Between the “Perfect Time” tease and Elizabeth stepping forward, this feels like the start of a counterplay, not a surrender.
