The chapter also reveals why Amado wanted Kashin Koji captured. After altering Koji’s brain activity, Amado asks whether any possible future ends with Kawaki successfully reviving Akebi.

What Happens in Boruto Chapter 36?
Boruto Chapter 36 follows three major developments.
Amado captures Kashin Koji and interferes with his ability to see possible futures. Konoha’s political situation grows more dangerous as Shikamaru faces an attempt to remove him as Hokage. Code also recognizes Boruto and Sarada’s trap before it can lead them into the Divine Tree hideout.
The chapter ends with Boruto teleporting to Sarada before Kashin Koji can finish warning him.
Amado Asks Kawaki to Capture Kashin Koji
Chapter 36 begins with Amado asking Kawaki to kidnap Kashin Koji.
Amado claims the request will not interfere with Kawaki’s mission to eliminate the Divine Trees. His priority remains reviving his daughter, Akebi, through the Karma stored inside Kawaki.
Kawaki agrees to cooperate as long as Amado does not stand in the way of his own goals.
Amado knows Boruto is currently inside Konoha while suppressing his chakra signature. Kawaki can still sense Boruto’s Otsutsuki presence, but Boruto is separated from Koji.
That creates a limited opportunity for Amado to act before Koji’s future-seeing ability receives another update.
Kobu Moves Against Shikamaru
The chapter then returns to Kobu and the village elders.
Kobu remembers waking up on the roof of the Hokage’s office while several Divine Trees surrounded him. Boruto appeared and destroyed the attackers almost immediately.
Instead of accepting that Boruto saved him, Kobu believes the incident was arranged.
He accuses Shikamaru of secretly cooperating with Boruto. Kobu also suspects that the Divine Tree attack was staged to interrupt his interrogation and protect the people involved in Boruto’s escape.
Sai warns that his accusations have gone too far, but Kobu refuses to back down.
He has already contacted the Land of Fire’s daimyo and plans to gather evidence against Shikamaru. With support from the elders, Kobu wants official approval to remove Shikamaru from his position as Hokage.
Amado Captures Koji Inside Konoha
Konoha’s sensory team detects someone with a chakra signature matching Jiraiya’s entering the village.
Shikamaru realizes the person must be Kashin Koji. He orders the information kept secret and asks the sensory team to locate him.
Amado has already captured Koji by the time the search begins.
Koji wakes inside Amado’s laboratory with jutsu-sealing restraints preventing him from controlling his frogs. Amado greets him and admits that he is surprised Koji survived his battle with Isshiki.
Koji does not appear interested in revenge. He understood the danger of the mission and knew Amado created him to fight Isshiki.
Amado’s real interest is Koji’s shinjutsu.
How Does Kashin Koji’s Future Ability Work?
Amado explains his understanding of Koji’s Prescience ability, also known as Ten Paths.
The ability lets Koji witness possible futures. However, he does not receive a constant stream of new information.
Possible futures arrive through compulsory updates separated by irregular periods. Koji’s previous update happened four days earlier, shortly before the fight against Mamushi.
Everything Amado did after that update created a new path Koji had not seen.
Amado identifies those gaps as the ability’s greatest weakness. If someone acts between updates, Koji may be unable to predict the result until his power activates again.
Amado Alters Koji’s Brain Activity
Amado admits that he used ultrasound to alter Koji’s brain activity while he was unconscious.
He believes the procedure will shorten the interval between Prescience updates. More frequent updates would allow Koji to see changes in the future before Amado’s plans move too far.
Koji is immediately suspicious of the procedure.
Amado claims he intended to improve Koji’s ability, but he quickly reveals the personal reason he needed access to the future.
He wants to know whether Akebi can be revived.
Koji Has Never Seen Akebi Return
Amado shows Koji the cloned body he created for Akebi.
Kawaki’s Karma contains Akebi’s genetic information and memories. Amado believes Kawaki can place Karma onto the clone and use the Otsutsuki reincarnation process to restore her.
He asks whether Koji has ever seen a future where Kawaki successfully gives the clone Karma.
Koji says no.
Every possible future Koji has witnessed remains stored inside his mind. He can say with certainty that he has never seen Kawaki complete Amado’s plan.
Jura appears in every future Koji has seen. In almost all those timelines, Jura kills Kawaki before Akebi can return.
Amado thanks Koji for answering honestly.
He then says he looks forward to discovering what new future their conversation and his procedure have created.
Koji Receives a New Future Update
Koji eventually returns to Boruto’s hideout and contacts Shikamaru, Eida, and Inojin.
He asks Eida to use the Senrigan to examine what Amado did to him. Before he can explain more, Koji suddenly collapses.
Amado’s procedure appears to have worked. Koji receives another Prescience update much earlier than normal.
The update contains brief images from several possible futures.
Koji sees:
- Boruto activating Karma
- Borushiki with a fully formed horn
- Kawaki using Karma
- Sarada activating her Mangekyo Sharingan
- Hidari reaching toward Sarada
- Himawari and Sumire
- Moegi and Konohamaru
- Tree roots spreading
- Jura approaching
- Kobu standing near the Hokage’s cloak
- Jura preparing food with Shikamaru
These images represent possible futures rather than events guaranteed to happen. Koji still needs to identify which choices lead toward each outcome.
Code Discovers Sarada’s Trap
Chapter 35 revealed that Boruto wanted Sarada to let Code capture her.
Code left Claw Marks around Konoha during the Mamushi attack. Boruto expected Code to transport Sarada directly to the Divine Tree hideout.
Sarada carried special markers containing traces of Boruto’s chakra. Once Code moved her, Boruto planned to teleport to the markers and enter the hideout.
The plan fails because Code notices Boruto’s chakra coming from Sarada.
He discovers the markers and realizes Boruto intends to use them for teleportation. Code uses his mechanical hand to remove them before forcing Sarada toward a Claw Mark.
Koji sees the failure during his new future update.
He warns Boruto to stay calm and tells him not to teleport. Boruto leaves before Koji can finish explaining what Code has discovered.
The chapter ends with Boruto arriving at Sarada’s location after Code has already exposed the trap.
What Do Koji’s New Visions Mean?
The future fragments create several possible conflicts.
Borushiki’s restored horn suggests Momoshiki could regain control during an approaching crisis. Boruto avoids using Karma because activating it creates another opportunity for Momoshiki to surface.
Sarada and Hidari also appear together in one vision. Hidari may have inherited more from Sasuke than his appearance and techniques.
His connection to Sarada could eventually place him in conflict with Jura.
The image of Jura and Shikamaru preparing food is more difficult to interpret. Jura may enter Konoha looking for information rather than immediately attacking.
However, Prescience only shows possibilities. Some of the futures Koji witnessed may never occur.
Kawaki’s future remains the darkest part of Amado’s conversation. Koji has seen Jura kill him in almost every possible timeline.

Final Thoughts
Boruto Chapter 36 disrupts several carefully prepared plans.
Amado succeeds in forcing Koji’s Prescience ability to update more frequently, but Koji confirms that none of the futures he has seen end with Akebi’s resurrection. Jura kills Kawaki in almost every possible timeline before the plan can succeed.
Boruto’s strategy also fails.
Code detects the teleportation markers hidden on Sarada and removes them before Boruto can use her capture to enter the Divine Tree hideout.
Koji tries to stop him, but Boruto teleports away before hearing the full warning.
