2K is leaning into college basketball hype with NBA 2K26 Season 5, which launches Friday, February 20, 2026. The new season adds college-themed content across MyTEAM and MyCAREER, and it also serves as an early tease for 2K’s upcoming college basketball experience planned for early 2027.
2K Sports SVP and GM Zak Armitage says the goal is to build a “definitive basketball universe” that connects the NBA, WNBA, and future collegiate content under one umbrella.

Season 5 includes player cards, jerseys, mascots, and more tied to these programs:

2K also says each school will include athlete representation from both Men’s and Women’s squads.
MyTEAM: New Cards, Free Box, And Daily Challenge Games
MyTEAM gets an era-spanning drop of new cards that includes legendary alumni and over 40 current college athletes, with examples like Cameron Boozer and Lauren Betts.
Here’s what to expect in MyTEAM this season:
- College Celebration Box (free): redeem a box with five Free Agent Option Packs to add current college stars right away
- Daily spotlight Challenge Games: run from the start of Season 5 through March 30
- Big evolution rewards: beat an “all-time” version of the featured player’s college team to earn a 94 OVR Diamond of the featured current player
- Evolve your card: that 94 OVR Diamond can evolve twice into a 98 OVR Galaxy Opal
- 41 total evolution cards: available to earn throughout Season 5
