Fallout Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

In 2077, Cooper Howard runs into Robert House at a veterans event. House grills him about where his loyalties really sit, including his bond with his old war buddy Charlie. Before walking away, House drops a loaded hint that this will not be their last encounter.

Jump to 2296, and Lucy’s situation goes from bad to worse. Caesar’s Legion captures her and executes the woman she’s traveling with, a Legion slave. Lucy learns the Legion fractured into two rival groups after Caesar’s death sparked a messy succession fight. She tries to talk her way out by offering to help mediate, but they make an example out of her anyway and nail her to a cross.

The Ghoul survives his own crisis in the harshest way possible, cutting away the poisoned chunk of his leg to stop it spreading. After he tracks Lucy to the competing Legion camps, he heads to Camp Golf to try to pull in NCR support. The place is basically dead, and the securitron Victor tells him only one NCR unit is still operating in the area. The Ghoul finds them, but he does not sign on. Instead, he trades them to the Legion to secure Lucy’s freedom. As they escape the camps, he escalates the fallout by blowing up Caesar’s body, which pushes the two Legion factions into open civil war.

Meanwhile at Area 51, the Yosemite Elder refuses to join a coup against the Commonwealth chapter, and the tension spikes when Commonwealth Paladin Xander Harkness suddenly arrives. Elder Quintus shuts down the idea of killing Xander, but Maximus talks with him anyway. Xander offers Maximus a vertibird ride to discuss alternatives to war, and the two actually start to click. Maximus is impressed by Commonwealth tech, including a super sledge that Xander uses during a skirmish where they take down a securitron.

That brief cooperation ends when they uncover Thaddeus running a bottle cap operation that relies on child labor. Thaddeus and Maximus beg Xander not to kill the ghoul children involved, but Xander refuses to back off. Maximus snaps, uses the super sledge, and kills Xander, realizing he just might have set a war in motion.
