Call of Elyndra Demo Impressions

The fishing system shows surprising depth, from bait selection to rare and legendary catches.

The Call of Elyndra demo is short, only about five minutes long, but it gives players a solid taste of one of the game’s core mechanics: fishing. Tasked by an unnamed character with catching twelve fish for a banquet, I dove straight into the waters (literally) to see how the system works.

How to Fish in Call of Elyndra

Fishing in Call of Elyndra is more layered than I expected. You can equip different types of bait, which determine the types of fish you’ll catch. Streaks also matter: three catches in a row increase your chances of finding rare fish, while five in a row boost your odds of hooking a legendary one. During my playthrough, I even managed to snag a Mythic fish, which felt pretty rewarding.

Casting is simple but precise. Stand near the water, press and hold the space key, and aim for the glowing ring that appears. Landing in the center circle earns a Fantastic cast, hitting the surrounding ring scores Good, and anywhere outside registers as Fair. It’s not yet clear whether cast quality affects fish rarity or bait conservation. I also noticed some glowing rings spawned in awkward spots where my character couldn’t quite angle properly to reach—something I hope gets refined in the full release.

Once the bobber hits, pressing the space key launches the fishing mini-game. Here, the challenge is keeping your reel meter’s green line inside the “fish zone” by lightly tapping the space key. Press too hard or too soft, and the fish escapes. After figuring out the rhythm, I was able to catch all twelve fish without issue.

Final Thoughts on the Call of Elyndra Demo

Overall, this short demo was a pleasant surprise. The fishing system has just enough depth to stay interesting without becoming overwhelming, and the chance to reel in rare, legendary, and even mythic catches adds excitement to every cast. If the rest of Call of Elyndra’s systems are this engaging, this is definitely a game worth keeping an eye on.

I’ll be updating this guide if more content is added to the demo. Stay tuned for a full review of Call of Elyndra later this fall! In the meantime, check out our Reviews Hub for coverage of all the biggest games released in 2025 to tide you over.
