Should You Help Milverstreet or Hogarth in The Outer Worlds 2?

This early faction choice has serious consequences. Here’s how to get the best outcome whether you side with Fairfield or Westport.

Are you wondering if you should help Milverstreet or Hogarth in The Outer Worlds 2? Your first major faction decision takes place on Paradise Island. While it may seem minor at first, this choice carries lasting consequences, especially during the final quest on the island. Here’s what you need to know to get the best result.

Should You Side with Fairfield or Westport?

On the surface, siding with Hogarth and the town of Westport seems like the easiest way to access the Vox Relay station since he controls the bridge. However, you can still earn access to the relay even if you side with Milverstreet and the people of Fairfield. You just need to take a few extra steps.

Here’s how to make it work:

  1. Sabotage Westport by completing side objectives that weaken the town’s infrastructure.
  2. Speak with Westport citizens afterward. If convinced, they’ll agree to leave if Hogarth approves.
  3. Return to Hogarth and explain that his people are ready to move.
  4. He’ll resist at first. Use dialogue options to persuade him that his people still need a leader, even in Fairfield.
  5. If successful, Hogarth agrees to move, and you’ll earn a writ from him that grants access to the Vox Relay.

This lets you keep Hogarth’s support and earn favor with Fairfield without burning bridges.

Later in the story, you’ll need to redirect a crashing Vox Relay station. Without spoiling major plot points, your choice here ties directly into who you’ve helped and how you handled the earlier quest.

If you lack the right background, traits, or skills, you’ll be forced to crash the station somewhere. You’ll have two options:

  • Crash in Fairfield
  • Crash in Westport

If you had convinced Hogarth and his people to relocate to Fairfield earlier, you could direct the Vox Relay station to crash into Westport without any loss of life. If not, you’ll have to choose which town to sacrifice.

Warning: Crashing the Vox Relay into a town will permanently remove all NPCs, shops, quests, and loot in that area. Choose wisely.

What Will You Do?

Helping Milverstreet or Hogarth isn’t just a one-off faction choice. It directly impacts who survives and which areas stay open later in The Outer Worlds 2. By persuading Hogarth to move his people to Fairfield, you can get the best of both worlds: safe access to the Vox Relay and no town lost.
