Vampires are more than just flavor in Night Swarm. Recruiting new ones expands your castle, boosts your long-term income, and gives you more reasons to chase specific routes on the map. If you have noticed purple icons on the level select screen and wondered how they work, this guide will walk you through exactly how to turn those into new vampire recruits for your kingdom.
How to Get New Subjects in Night Swarm
The first thing you need to do to recruit new vampires in Night Swarm is go to the Levels screen. From there, look for the purple icon on the different levels. This icon is usually located to the right of the triangle in the center of the map. Once highlighted, if you look to the right, you will see “Findable Vampire” text under the Difficulty Modifiers section.
After selecting the proper level, you will then need to look for the icon on the path that is a purple skull with bat wings called the Dueling Isle. This path requires that you duel the recruitable vampire. Once you win the duel, that vampire will be recruited to your castle.
The great thing about recruiting new vampires that I discovered during my Night Swarm review is that after every run, they automatically provide you with free resources like Spider Silk. To receive these free resources, go to the giant horn across from The Trial of Ancients. You will see a yellow exclamation point above it if it is ready to collect. Interact with it, and your vampires will appear and drop the resources on the ground.

Once you unlock your first few vampires, you will start to feel just how important they are to your long-term progress. Make a habit of checking the level select screen for Dueling Isle paths and visiting the horn after every run so you never miss free resources. Over time, a strong roster of vampires will keep your castle upgrades flowing, your crafting stocked, and your Night Swarm runs feeling stronger every time you step back onto the battlefield.
