Collecting all 33 COG Tags in Gears of War unlocks three trophies/achievements:
- Time to Remember (10G) – Collect one-third of the tags
- Honor-Bound (20G) – Collect two-thirds of the tags
- For the Fallen (30G) – Collect every COG Tag
Here are all Gears of War COG Tag Locations broken down by act:
Act 1: Ashes
Ashes
COG Tag 1
At the start, after choosing combat or training, look straight ahead in the courtyard. The tag is beneath the Gears logo on the wall across from the cells.
COG Tag 2
In the first room where Locust cut through a door, check the back. If you came from training, it’s under the staircase. Look for the Gears logo, the tag is just to the left.
COG Tag 3
Once you enter the courtyard, go up the stairs on the left. At the top, turn left and grab the tag. Don’t wait too long or Dom may trigger the next scene.
Trial by Fire
COG Tag 4
Your teammate points this one out, but if you miss it, check the small courtyard. It’s near a short wall in the center, just right of the Gears logo.
COG Tag 5
Inside the building with two emergence holes, check near the second one. The tag is hidden by weeds, next to the door outside.
Fish in a Barrel
COG Tag 6
After clearing the Troika gunners and four emergence holes, go to the far-left corner of the street. The tag is next to some ammo—the only corner without a hole.
Knock Knock

Look for the white van with a Gears logo before the battle starts. Go left of the van and grab the tag from the corner.
Hammer
COG Tag 8
In the hallway where Jack hacks a door and Wretches swarm, clear the enemies. The tag is left of the door, near a cement coffin-like block.
COG Tag 9
In the room where Rojas is found dead, go downstairs and check behind the first pillar in the shadows.
China Shop

After Gyules is killed by the Berserker, pick up his tag where he fell, near flames at the dead end.
COG Tag 11
While luring the Berserker, it smashes three doors. Before the third door, check the alcove to the left for the tag.

During the Berserker fight, face the door you entered through and follow the right wall. The tag is behind a pillar near the Gears logo.
Act 2: Nightfall

When Jack opens a door after regrouping, head inside. At the bottom of the stairs, destroy the couch to uncover the tag.

After the catwalk collapse, go down the stairs, then turn around. The tag is tucked behind rocks under the stairs.

Near the Stranded Settlement gate, check between two trees and some newspaper vending machines for the tag.
Lethal Dusk

On the road to checkpoint 2, the path bends right. Before you go, check the left side. Blow up the propane tank by the shed, then grab the tag inside.

In the spotlight section with Dom, the Gears logo is on the right wall, but the tag is hidden to the left in rubble. Either light it with the spotlight or sprint over before Kryll swarm you.
Dark Labyrinth

As soon as you leave the building and see the car with the propane tank, check the right-hand edge of the building. The tag is on the ground in the corner.
Act 3: Belly of the Beast

In the rainy dock area, go behind the building with the elevator. Follow the long dock to the end to find the tag.

In the room with the weak floorboards, check the far-right corner before falling through.

After entering the cart control room, go downstairs toward the carts, then turn around. The tag is to the right of the stairs you came down.
Darkest Before Dawn

After the drilling platforms, stick to the right side. The tag is near grenades and a Gears logo.

After sliding down, clear the fight near the building with the Gears logo. The tag is at the bottom of the stairs by the platform.
