Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo 2026 Unveils New Titles

Crunchyroll revealed new anime, films, manga additions, and theatrical plans during its Anime Expo showcase.

Crunchyroll brought several major anime announcements to Anime Expo 2026, including a new Solo Leveling movie and a fresh look at Ghost of Tsushima Legends.

The annual Crunchyroll Showcase took place July 3 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Hosts Tim Lyu and Lauren Moore led the panel, which featured new trailers, first looks, music news, and surprise reveals.

The biggest announcement was Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. Crunchyroll also shared new character material for Ghost of Tsushima Legends and confirmed Nirvana’s “Breed” as the opening theme for The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All.

Other updates included Kagurabachi, Aoashi Season 2, Overgeared, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5, and several new series headed to Crunchyroll.

Solo Leveling: Beyond the System Continues the Anime

Crunchyroll and Aniplex announced Solo Leveling: Beyond the System as a new theatrical anime film.

The movie will continue the story after the events of Season 2. Aleks Le, the English voice of Sung Jinwoo, appeared during the panel to reveal the project.

Fans at Anime Expo also saw a teaser key visual and a promotional concept video.

A-1 Pictures will animate the film. Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll will produce it.

Crunchyroll has not announced a release date yet. More details on the story and theatrical rollout will come later.

Ghost of Tsushima Legends Gets a Character First Look

Crunchyroll also showed a character first-look for the Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime.

The series adapts the world of PlayStation’s Ghost of Tsushima. It follows one of the last remaining samurai as he defends Tsushima from the Mongol Empire.

Takanobu Mizuno will direct the anime. HAYATE Inc. will oversee production.

Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi of NITRO PLUS will write the script. Urobuchi will also handle story composition.

Takashi Okazaki will provide character designs, and KAMIKAZE DOUGA will produce the animation. Crunchyroll has not shared a premiere date yet.

The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All Adds Nirvana

One of the showcase’s biggest music surprises came from Dave Grohl.

Grohl appeared in a video message and announced that Nirvana’s “Breed” will serve as the opening theme for The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All.

The anime will launch in early 2027.

The story follows Aya, a fashionable high schooler who loves rock music. She falls for a stylish CD shop employee dressed in black, not knowing the person is actually her female classmate Mitsuki.

Kagurabachi Gets a Chihiro Preview

Crunchyroll also gave Kagurabachi fans a new look at the anime adaptation.

Taihi Kimura, the Japanese voice actor for Chihiro Rokuhira, joined Crunchyroll News Editor-in-Chief Kyle Cardine for a Q&A.

Panel attendees also saw Chihiro’s provisional character design sheet.

Crunchyroll recently confirmed that Kagurabachi will stream on the platform next year.

New Romance, Sports, and Mystery Anime Are Coming

Crunchyroll announced several new and returning series during the showcase.

Here U Are will stream on Crunchyroll. The manhwa adaptation follows Yang Yu, a popular university upperclassman, and Huan Li, a quiet new student. Their relationship starts badly, but the two continue to pull each other closer.

Fate Rewinder will launch in April 2027. The sci-fi mystery thriller follows heroes who use the Retry Eye, an implanted device that lets them rewind time. The story centers on Chrono, a new Rewinder trying to save people from tragic deaths.

Dengeki Daisy also received its worldwide premiere trailer. The romantic comedy follows an orphan whose connection to a mysterious hacker pulls her into espionage.

Aoashi Season 2 will stream on Crunchyroll in October 2026. The new season continues Ashito’s soccer journey after his junior high tournament loss and his recruitment into a higher-level path.

Crunchyroll Adds More Fantasy and Action Series

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 will stream on Crunchyroll next year. Naofumi’s next journey will bring new threats tied to the waves and the other Cardinal Heroes.

Gacha Girls Corps will arrive in January 2027. The fantasy series follows Heihachi, a mobile game addict who enters another world after a strange in-game pull.

Magical Buffs: The Support Caster Is Stronger Than He Realized! also comes to Crunchyroll in January 2027. The story follows Wim Strauss, a support mage who joins an A-rank guild after his previous group casts him out.

The Vermilion Mask will stream in October 2026. The series follows Peru, a pupil of legendary mask maker Gaston Roux. After a cursed mask causes tragedy, Peru sets out to destroy the remaining masks.

Overgeared will come to Crunchyroll this year. The series follows Grid, a struggling VR game player who gains the legendary class title “Pagma’s Successor.”

AKIRA Returns to Theaters in 4K and IMAX

Crunchyroll also announced new theatrical plans for AKIRA.

The landmark cyberpunk anime will return to theaters in the United States and Canada on September 4, 2026.

The release will feature the film in 4K and IMAX.

Crunchyroll Manga Expands with More Titles

Crunchyroll Manga also received several updates during the panel.

The service launched in October 2025 and now features more than 400 titles from Japanese publishers. Its catalog includes manga from Shueisha, Square Enix, VIZ Media, Yen Press, Kodansha US Publishing, and more.

New Kodansha additions include Attack on Titan, Fire Force, and Fairy Tail.

Crunchyroll also announced that Black Torch will join the service on July 13. The timing gives fans a way to read the manga soon after the anime starts streaming new episodes on July 4.

Other new arrivals include Villainess Level 99, Red Cat Ramen, Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective, Forget That Night, Your Majesty, Eko Eko Azarak Reborn, Grendizer U: The Inception, Three Exorcism Siblings, and Unemployed Killers Support Group.

Crunchyroll Sets up a Busy 2026 and 2027

Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo 2026 showcase covered much more than one headline reveal.

Solo Leveling: Beyond the System gives one of anime’s biggest recent hits a theatrical continuation. Ghost of Tsushima Legends also remains one of Crunchyroll’s most interesting upcoming projects because of its PlayStation connection and creative team.

The panel also showed how much Crunchyroll is stacking its future lineup. Kagurabachi, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Aoashi, Overgeared, Fate Rewinder, and several new fantasy and romance titles are all on the way.
