Syberia Remastered Chapter 1 Guide

The story begins with Kate Walker’s arrival in the quiet village of Valadilène, where a seemingly routine legal matter quickly turns into something far more mysterious. Our chapter 1 walkthrough of Syberia Remastered begins at the Valadilène Hotel.
Valadilène Hotel
- Interact with your suitcase to ensure story progression later.
- Grab the Welcome to Valadilène pamphlet from the brochure case.
- Head left and talk to the boy named Momo. Exhaust all dialogue options.
- Return to the front desk:
- Pick up the automaton key.
- Insert it into the automaton bell and press the button.
- The Hotelier will appear.
- Speak to him and ask him to take your bag upstairs.
- In your hotel room:
- Interact with the fax on the bedside table to collect it.
- Use the phone to call Marson.
- Return to the hotel lobby and speak to the hotelier again:
- Exhaust dialogue options until selecting “Mission”.
- Collect the Dear Mr. Alfolter fax.
- Before leaving, go to where Momo ran off and collect the gears he dropped — these are required later.
Valadilène Main Street
- After the cutscene, head right down Main Street.
- Walk past the door with two automatons (you don’t have the correct item yet).
- Speak to the patisserie owner to learn shops are closed for mourning.
- Continue walking until you reach the lawyer’s office (automaton on the left side).
- Pick up the Valadilène Gazette newspaper outside.
- Interact with the office door and follow these steps:
- Click on the automaton’s hand and place the Dear Mr. Alfolter fax.
- Press the lever on its chest to move the head.
- Pull the lever on its arm to have it read the fax.
- Take the fax back and enter the building.
- In the reception:
- Observe the Stamp Puzzle (you’ll return here later).
- Proceed through the door to meet Mr. Alfolter.
- Exhaust dialogue and obtain Anna’s Will.
- Back in the reception, pick up the Factory Key to the left of the door.
- As you exit, you’ll get a phone call from Dan:
- Bug warning: If UI disappears or the dialogue box won’t close, you may need to force quit or return to the main menu. The game auto-saves after the call.
- Head toward the factory gate and speak to the old man on the bench. Exhaust dialogue.
- Return to the gate and unlock it:
- Use the Factory Key on the top automaton.
- Turn the key on the bottom automaton.
- Pull the middle lever to open the gate.
The Voralberg Estate
- Enter and walk the path to Anna’s house (take a right).
- Try the front door — it’s locked.
- Head down the stairs, turn left, and walk around to the back.
- Find the ladder automaton — you’ll need a key.
- Continue until you meet the gardener. Speak to her.
- Collect the Ladder Key from the fountain.
- Return to the ladder:
- Insert the Ladder Key.
- Watch the cutscene as you enter the attic.
- Inside:
- Go right and open the drawing desk to collect:
- Anna’s Book
- Ink Pot (used for the notary’s stamp puzzle)
- Move to the opposite side of the attic and pull the light switch.
- Momo appears and asks for a drawing of the mammoth.
- Go right and open the drawing desk to collect:
- Talk to Momo:
- Take the paper he gives you.
- Return to the mammoth drawing, attach the paper with a nail, and trace the mammoth.
- Take the drawing and give it to Momo.
- He’ll mention a secret location.
The Cave
- Exit the attic and head back to Valadilène Main Street.
- Go past the patisserie to the gate shown in the cutscene.
- You’ll watch Momo unlock the gate and go inside, follow him.
- Head left and up the stairs. Pick up the Oar along the way.
- Meet Momo, who speaks about a cave and Hans’ doll.
- Walk past Momo to the dam:
- Interact with the wheel (it’s broken).
- Place the Oar to raise the dam and lower the water.
- Return to Momo’s spot and take the newly revealed cave path.
- Inside the cave:
- Follow the path and pick up the Mammoth Doll.
- Exit the cave.
- Olivia will call on your way back. After the call, Momo is gone.
- Head to the cemetery, now accessible.
Assembly Factory
- Explore the bottom floor until you get a call from Kate’s mom.
- Enter the room with the red light:
- Use the winch to lower Oscar.
- Speak to him to unlock the “A Strange Automaton” achievement.
- Collect Oscar’s Punch Card.
- Go upstairs to Anna’s office:
- Open the bookcase, pull the book, and take the music cylinder to unlock the “Forgotten Melody” achievement.
- Take the Train Blueprint, Bailiff Letter, and Unfinished Letter.
- Continue up the catwalk to the next level.
- Examine the Voralberg Automatons paper.
- Interact with the control panel:
- Insert Oscar’s Punch Card (console is still off).
- Return downstairs and go to the hallway on the right near the exit.
- In the next room:
- Pull the lever on the right, then another lever nearby.
- This powers a wheel outside.

- If correct, a cutscene plays. If not, Oscar will reject the feet.
- Head to the opposite side of the factory floor:
- Pick up Oscar’s feet from the interact point.
- Return to Oscar and attach the feet.
- He will walk to the train station — follow him.
Train Station
- Walk around the fountain to enter the train station.
- Climb aboard the train via the interact point.
- Talk to Oscar. When he leaves, exit and go to the ticket booth.
- Speak with him to receive:
- Train Ticket
- Exit Permit
- Return to the train and try to give both to Oscar:
- He will refuse the permit because it isn’t stamped.
- Exit and go to the notary’s office:
- Use the stamp machine:
- Place the Ink Pot.
- Insert the permit.
- Press the red button.
- Earn the “The Train Is Mine” achievement.
- Take the stamped permit and head to the church.
- Use the stamp machine:
The Graveyard
- Go right inside the graveyard and ignore the first door.
- Enter the second building.
- Interact with the cross to reveal the Cabinet Key.
- Use the key on the cabinet and collect:
- All Punch Card Fragments
- From drawer 3, use the wheel to find:
- Tomb Key
- Priest Confession
- At the center desk, arrange the fragments to solve the pattern.
- Enter the pattern into the machine.
- Pull the lever and take the Church Punch Card.
- Return to the first door:
- Solve the gear puzzle using:
- 6‑notch
- 12‑notch
- 10‑notch
- 4‑notch
- Pull the lever and ride the elevator.
- Solve the gear puzzle using:
- At the top:
- Insert the Church Punch Card into the automaton.
- Bells will ring and a cutscene reveals a tomb entrance.
- Take the elevator back down and go to the tomb.
- Use the Tomb Key to enter and earn the “Welcome to Valadilène” achievement.
- Inside, pull the lever on Hans’ crypt and open the casket.
- Collect the Valadilène Cylinder and newspaper cutting.
- Earn the “Desecrator” achievement.
The Factory (Final Visit)
- Return to Anna’s office.
- Insert the Valadilène Cylinder into the music box.
- Watch the cutscene and earn “The Terrible Accident”.
- Retrieve the mechanical toy and take the cylinder again.
Final Train Departure
- On the train, go to the next room past Oscar:
- Place the Mammoth Toy on the desk platform.
- Insert the two music cylinders into the display case.
- Place the mechanical toy on the center podium.
- Give Oscar the permit — he’ll say you need to wind the train.
- Exit the train and descend the opposite-side ladder.
- Go right to the winding station:
- Spin the wheel to extend the device.
