You can get Clay in Grounded 2 by harvesting red boulders near ponds using a Level 1 Omni-Shovel. The first place you’ll likely find Clay is during the Find a Way Into the Communications Array quest at the very start of the game. To locate it, follow the black data cable coming out of the Range Outpost, which leads to a cave next to a small pond. In the pond water, look for a red boulder, stand next to it, and use your Omni-Shovel to break it. Small red clay chunks will drop to the ground; pick them up to add Clay to your inventory.

However, the most efficient place I’ve found to farm Clay is underneath the Picnic Table. If you’re heading there to complete the ORC Transmitter quest or to gather Blueberries, it’s a great time to farm some Clay while you’re at it. This area contains up to ten Clay boulders, each yielding up to five Clay pieces, making it an ideal farming route early on.

As you progress further into the game, you’ll find Clay in several other zones, including Ceremony, Grass Games, and Statue. Be aware, though, these areas often include tougher enemies like mosquitos near the ponds, so come prepared for a fight. Also, in these zones, Clay appears in larger boulders that require a Level 2 Omni-Shovel to harvest, but they provide more Clay per boulder, making them worth the effort.

Now that you know how to get Clay in Grounded 2, you can start building and crafting with ease. Whether you’re just starting out or deep into tougher zones, this guide will help you stock up quickly and efficiently. Keep an eye out for bigger boulders as you upgrade your tools, and don’t forget to farm smart by combining your Clay runs with other quest objectives.
